Training of Trainers for Accessible Digital Education

Education continues to evolve alongside technology, creating new opportunities for teachers to make learning more engaging, accessible, and inclusive. For educators with visual impairments, keeping pace with these changes requires more than determination. It requires practical skills, confidence, and the ability to integrate accessible technology into everyday teaching.

Training of Trainers for Accessible Digital Education was created to meet that need.

Delivered at the invitation of the Special Education Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the programme was held over two weeks beginning on 10 November 2025 at the Special Education Complex, Peshawar. Senior blind educators came together to strengthen their digital skills and prepare for the demands of today's technology-enabled classrooms.

Building Digital Leaders

Technology is now an essential part of modern education. From preparing lesson plans and communicating with colleagues to accessing learning resources and supporting students, educators rely on digital tools every day.

This programme helped participants move beyond basic computer use by strengthening the practical skills needed to work independently, solve technical challenges, and confidently integrate accessible technology into their teaching.

The goal was never simply to master a screen reader. It was to help experienced educators become stronger digital leaders within their schools and communities.

Learning Through Practical Experience

Every session combined expert guidance with hands-on learning, allowing participants to apply new skills in realistic teaching and workplace scenarios.

Throughout the programme, participants strengthened their ability to:

• Navigate complex digital environments using advanced screen reader techniques.

• Configure screen readers and accessibility settings for different teaching and administrative tasks.

• Troubleshoot common accessibility challenges independently.

• Access, organise, and deliver digital learning resources more effectively.

• Improve productivity through efficient keyboard navigation and accessible workflows.

• Support colleagues and mentor other educators in the effective use of assistive technology.

Learning was reinforced through guided activities, practical exercises, and continuous feedback from Inclusive Hill's trainers, ensuring participants developed skills they could confidently apply in their daily work.

Creating a Ripple Effect

The programme successfully trained and certified 12 senior educators from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The impact, however, extends far beyond those twelve participants.

Each educator returned to their institution with stronger technical skills, greater confidence, and new ways of integrating accessible technology into teaching. As they continue sharing their knowledge with colleagues and supporting students, the benefits of the programme continue to spread across classrooms throughout the province.

By investing in educators, this project helps create better learning experiences for countless students with visual impairments and contributes to a more inclusive future for education.
